UEHN Series of Seminars

The Ukrainian Environmental Humanities Network developed an educational program for the Grounding.Invasion online residency. We invited experts to speak on topics such as the environmental consequences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, nuclear landscapes, wetlands, ‘war-wilding’ and abandoned landscapes, post-industrial landscapes, and post-war rebuilding. All seminars are available online.

The Grounding.Invasion program is a residency for Ukrainian artists who created works to reassess the consequences of aggressive military intervention and bring attention to the current ecological state of the country. The program took place in an online educational and artistic format, featuring a public discussion program with experts in ecology and the post-industrial era, alongside an online residency where four participants developed their projects with curatorial and mentoring support. The program culminated in an online presentation of the art projects, which were subsequently published on the IZOLYATSIA website.
